Using the Ski Tunes

Up to 10 hours of playtime, first lift to last run on a single charge. A full recharge takes about two hours with the included cable.

Cold reduces the capacity of every lithium battery, so on a genuinely cold day you can expect less than the full ten hours. The band itself insulates the module against your head, which helps, but plan for a shorter day if you're riding somewhere genuinely brutal

The headband with the audio module already fitted inside it, and a charging cable. Pairing works like any Bluetooth headphone: hold the button until the light flashes, then pick Eastmonts Ski Tunes in your phone's Bluetooth menu. There is no app to install and no account to create.

Yes. Remove the electronics through the small opening and machine-wash the headband cold. Air dry, never in the dryer.

They're built for snow, sweat- and splash-resistant, so falling snow or a wipeout won't hurt them.

No. The panel is only a few millimetres thin and sits flat against the fabric, and most riders forget it's there.

Talking to your group

Bluetooth, to your own phone. The Ski Tunes® work as a hands-free headset: your phone places or takes a normal call, and the headband gives you the speakers and the microphone, so you never pull off a glove or dig a phone out of a pocket.

Going through your phone is what gives you the range. You can be on completely different runs and still be talking, and whoever you're calling only needs their phone, not a second pair of Ski Tunes®. There's no extra box to buy, nothing to mount on your helmet, and nothing to set up beyond pairing them once.

Not on their own. Both the music and the calls come from a paired phone, so a rider who isn't carrying one gets neither. There's no memory card or onboard storage in the band.

The way parents usually solve it is an old handset in an inside pocket, paired to the child's Ski Tunes® once and then left there. The child never has to touch it: the headband answers calls and controls playback on its own. Any spare phone works, and it doesn't need a SIM for music.

None of the three. No app to install, no account, no monthly fee, and no radio licence. The only running cost is whatever your own phone plan already charges for a call.

As far as your signal reaches, which in practice means anywhere on the mountain with coverage, including on completely different runs. That is the advantage of routing through a phone rather than a short-range radio, which typically drops out after a few hundred metres of trees or terrain.

Fit, helmets and safety

Yes. The Ski Tunes® are worn under the helmet rather than installed into it, so they don't need audio-ready ear pads or any particular helmet brand. The band sits low over your ears, the helmet goes on top, and the speakers slide left or right inside the band so you can line them up with your ears.

One size, and the fabric stretches to fit any adult and kid head. It sits low over the ears so it stays in place under a helmet, and the speakers slide left or right inside the band so you can line them up with your ears. If it doesn't fit you, you have 90 days to send it back.

You can, and plenty of people try. Two things go wrong. The helmet's ear pads press the bud into your ear canal, which starts to ache within a couple of runs. And a bud that works loose on a chairlift is gone in the snow. A flat speaker in a headband has nothing to press into your ear and nothing to fall out. That specific problem is the reason the Ski Tunes® exist.

Yes. The speakers rest over your ears without sealing them, so you still hear the lift, your group and anyone coming up behind you.

The risk with earbuds is that they seal your ear canal and cut you off from the mountain. The Ski Tunes® sit over the ear rather than inside it, so ambient sound still reaches you. Keep the volume low enough to hear other riders and lift staff, and check your resort's own rules. A few have them.

Yes. The same headband is worn by snowboarders, snowmobilers, winter runners and hikers. Nothing about the fit is ski-specific. It works anywhere you'd want warm ears and no earbuds.

The Neck Gaiter

Yes. The gaiter is designed to fit comfortably under any ski or snowboard helmet without adding bulk. It also works seamlessly with Ski Tunes. Just pull the gaiter up over your neck and lower face, and your Ski Tunes sit on top of your head under the helmet as usual.

Absolutely. Merino wool is one of the best natural insulators, and the Tencel adds wind resistance. This gaiter is warm enough for below-freezing temps but breathable enough that you won't overheat on sunny spring days. It self-regulates based on your body temperature.

No. The fabric is breathable enough that your exhaled air escapes rather than being trapped against your face. This is a huge advantage over cheap synthetic gaiters, which suffocate you and fog your goggles immediately.

Nope. Merino wool is naturally anti-microbial, which means it resists odor buildup even after multiple uses. You can wear this for several days of skiing before it needs a wash (though we still recommend washing it regularly).

One size fits all. The 4% spandex content means it stretches to fit different head and neck sizes comfortably. It won't feel too tight or too loose. It just grips naturally without constricting.

Machine wash cold, gentle detergent, no fabric softener. Air dry only, never in the dryer. Keeps the merino soft and prevents shrinking.

Yes. It's also great for snowboarding, snowmobiling, winter hiking, or just walking around town on cold days. The premium merino blend looks and feels better than a cheap synthetic gaiter, so you won't feel silly wearing it off the mountain.
